Diseases of the human musculoskeletal system today are quite common. This is due primarily to the fact that most of us lead an inactive way of life, we are inactive, we do not regularly go in for sports. But what can we say about sports, if even a few do morning exercises.
Osteochondrosis is a disease of the spine and also belongs to “this opera”. This disease is purely human. It has appeared since the time when a person began to walk on two legs. Indeed, in this position of the body, the main load falls on the spine.
But if earlier osteochondrosis was rather rare, now cases of its occurrence have become more frequent. And, probably, it is impossible to find at least one modern person who does not have any forms of osteochondrosis (pain and heaviness in the back).
The mechanism of osteochondrosis is as follows: with strong loads on the spine, a vascular bed is formed between the vertebrae, which significantly complicates the regeneration (restoration) of the intervertebral discs. And as a result, the cartilage tissue becomes thinner, the vertebrae are deformed, which is why pain occurs when the back bends. Indeed, instead of smooth interaction, friction arises. And if a person’s nutrition is also unbalanced, contains an insufficient amount of nutrients and minerals, then the process of deformation, and consequently the development of osteochondrosis, is accelerated.
Treatment of osteochondrosis of the spine has two directions:
- operational and
- conservative.
In the first case, an operation is performed on the spine to work out the spinal discs that have been deformed. But it is carried out in extreme cases, when nothing but surgery can help. Conservative treatment includes drug therapy and a set of special physical exercises. As a rule, this method is prescribed at the initial stages of the disease, when the destructive changes in the vertebral discs are not yet so great.
More specifically, the treatment of spinal osteochondrosis using a conservative method includes:
- Physical therapy exercises (gymnastics)
- Isometric kinesitherapy
- Manual therapy
- Underwater hydromassage
- Drug therapy
- Special diet
- Psychotherapy, etc.
The best option is treatment in specialized sanatoriums, rehabilitation centers, where the whole range of the described procedures is carried out. There you can not only cure osteochondrosis of the spine, but also recover psychologically, and just take a break from the daily hustle and bustle. Take care of yourself and be healthy!
