According to statistics, osteochondrosis of the spine affects about 90% of the working population. Doctors note that in recent years, this disease has significantly “rejuvenated”, now not only people over 45 years old, but also young girls and guys complain of pain in the back and neck. The main reason for this is a sedentary lifestyle. No matter how much we are advised that we need to move as much as possible, the civilized world is increasingly seated at computers. The whole organism suffers from inactivity, but most of all the spinal column, including the cervical vertebrae. Unfortunately, we are used to not taking it seriously when there are minor pains in the neck, hoping that it is from fatigue and after rest the pain will go away by itself. Meanwhile, stroke, heart attack, hypertension, vegetative-vascular dystonia are only the most common diseases that are a consequence of cervical osteochondrosis. With untimely treatment, this type of osteochondrosis leads to complete disability. One of the largest blood vessels passes through the cervical spine – the vertebral artery, which supplies the brain with nutrients and oxygen. The displacement of one of the vertebrae of the cervical spine leads to compression of this artery and, as a result, disturbance of cerebral circulation. As a result, a person begins regular headaches, dizziness, memory loss, increased intracranial pressure and insomnia. In the presence of these symptoms of cervical osteochondrosis, you cannot delay a visit to the doctor, you need to get rid of this disease as soon as possible. In most cases, treatment of cervical osteochondrosis is carried out at home and consists in the regular implementation of therapeutic exercises, neck massage, physiotherapy and medication. However, self-medication of pain in the neck is unacceptable if it arose as a result of an injury, accompanied by chills, a sensation of tingling or numbness in the hands and impaired vision. If these symptoms occur, call an ambulance to rule out the development of more serious life-threatening diseases. The cervical spine is a frequent localization of metastases in cancer of the lung, prostate and breast. True, the neck hurts in these cases constantly and intensively, with a clear limitation of its motor activity. Severe neck pain can indicate a brain hemorrhage, pharyngeal abscess, or lymphadenitis. With a heart attack and angina pectoris, pain is usually given to the front of the neck, which is an important symptom for the diagnosis of heart disease. I myself suffered from cervical osteochondrosis for a long time. There were days when I could not turn my head, suffered from severe headaches and dizziness. At the same time, I drew attention to the fact that my neck pains appeared during nervous disorders and experiences, that is, they arose due to strong moral stress. True, my work is also sedentary. I got rid of neck pain myself, regularly rotating an iron hoop on my neck. Of course, each person has an individual organism. Begin to rotate the hoop on the neck carefully, start with 5-10 daily rotations left and right. It is necessary to exercise the neck muscles very carefully, especially it is impossible to sharply turn the head after it has been held in one position for a long time. First, the tense muscles must be stretched, slowly making circular movements with the neck, and only then proceed with hoop exercises. Then you need to do massage, gently pressing the neck area with your fingers for 10-15 minutes. Ideally, if you have someone you can ask to have a massage to yourself in this relaxed state. The neck is the most mobile and vulnerable part of the spine. It holds and provides head movement, which weighs about 4.0 kg. Our neck moves more than any other part of our body, while it is subjected to constant pressure of a load of 4 kg. So it is not surprising that after 45 years it is difficult to find a person who would not suffer from cervical osteochondrosis. The intervertebral discs in the cervical spine wear out faster, and to prevent this, you need to eat properly, including daily foods that contain calcium, magnesium and other trace elements that strengthen the musculoskeletal system. Naturally, exercises, massage, balanced nutrition will not help get rid of neck pain in a day. The effect of them can be felt after a week, and sometimes even after a month. In order to quickly alleviate the condition in case of neck pain, you can wear a warm wool sweater with a neck or wrap a neck with a scarf. The ointments “Finalgon”, “Fastum-gel”, “Capsicam”, “Ketarol” and so on will also help relieve pain. But all these procedures give only a temporary analgesic effect, and you can’t get rid of neck pain without regular exercises to relax muscle tension and lifestyle changes.
